That was clearly a waste of time

Some people just are not worth the bother

I’m not very articulate, I can’t talk to people very well and explain things, or talk about my own work. And even building up the confidence to talk to someone who is looking at my work is difficult. But again, after a few ‘liquid confidences’, I went over and talked to someone. And after a while of chatting, and trying to do my best, he goes and says ‘I’ll be honest, I live in East London and i come to alot of these things just for the free booze’. Well great. Time for a few more liquid confidences…

It is mildly depressing looking at all the other amazing student photographers there and realising I’m actually really bad… But, the majority of them are third years and look like they have massive budgets, and we are just second years with zero budjet. Not that thats a really valid excuse…

I didn’t mention in the last post, but we honestly had the worst space possible. We paid nearly 4 grand for this?? Two walls: one short one with two doors in the middle, and the long wall with pillars and shit all over the place. Wow, that’s outstanding.

The open evening for the exhibition at the Old Truman Brewery went verrry well

Yesterday was the open evening of the Free Range Graduate show at the Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane. Once I downed a few glasses of wine and got rid of that pesky nervous tummy, things started to get very exciting with people everywhere and my favourite two people there, the boyfriend and the best friend were there in full support and a lovely suprise visit from my grandaddy.

The set up day on wednesday was an absolute nighhhtmareeeee. Thanks too two very helpful people, it caused us a few hours delay… (you don’t know what you’re talking about, you have no place to be saying this shit, now GTFO) But our technician, Paul was again such a legend and I don’t think we could have got it all done without his help.

Before the open evening started I was having quite a nice chill out at the Hookah Lounge on brick lane, really nice place. Tried some Egyptian hibiscus tea, which was really quite lovely. Ben had some other tea that just tasted like curry..

This is open until next Monday the 24th, and I’ll be there all day this Sunday (people need to come keep me company!!), milling about or curled up in the corner with a bottle of wine, dying from the heat of the place.

I’ll be posting a few times about all this. 🙂 keep tuned!

And here comes the big day

My exhibition at the Truman Brewery starts this Thursday 20th!

I’ll be setting up tomorrow, and then the thursday will be the opening night starting at 6pm and staying open till 10.
So anyone who lives the London way, please come and check out the Free Range Exhibition on Brick Lane. There are 8 students from my class who are exhibiting who are really worth checking out! A little incentive to come…there will be free drinks. 😉

I will be exhibiting 6 photographs from my farm shoots. Quite excited to have them on display in London. And the Free Range Art & Design Show is apparently the largest graduate show in Europe, so that’s pretty cool I’d say..

Here’s the exhibition poster, it was designed by Lee Heaven who is also exhibiting!

And here is a map of the place, just so I don’t get lost myself…

And just for my benefit so I can refer back to it with ease…

How to get to the space. 🙂
